Life with a purpose

I want to find my purpose, I want to have a  reason to live!
These are words I’ve heard over the years, and a couple of weeks ago I heard them again from a person that I care for and love. I did not know what to say, I wish I did. I could see desperation in her eyes and hear it in her voice. Then I thought, how did I find out about my purpose. I know that I was created to worship the Lord, to obey Him and to share His love to others so they will know Him. But, how did I find out my      calling? or how did I know I was capable of doing something greater than myself?
When I think about these things my mind goes back to my childhood. Way back when I was probably four and my mom would constantly tell me that I had a purpose, that the Lord had brought me to this world to do greater things. It is amazing how my mother’s faith transformed my life. I grew up listening to my mom and dad  telling me about the great things God could do through me, and for some reason I believed them. I also grew up watching amazing people of faith, listening to awesome testimonies, but mainly being taught to have a personal relationship with God. When you get to be close enough to God and let Him speak to your heart He will show you amazing things.
But, to be honest, there was a period of time in my life when I “forgot” about that, and also I “couldn’t find” my purpose.
I knew all these things, but I stopped believing, I was just listening to everybody else’s voices but God’s. That happened to me, in the same way it has happened to many Christians I know.
How about my friend? She was loved, but she was never told what her purpose was, she was never taught how to be close enough to God to listen to His voice. And I’m talking about a girl who went to church on Sundays since she was a little girl. That just led me to other questions, How are we raising our kids? (and when I say our I mean home, church, schools. I don’t have kids yet, but I have 75 beautiful kids I interact with every day). How are we teaching them that their lives have a purpose? How are we showing Jesus in us so they will know that their goal and purpose in life is to go to the Father (John 14:28)?  How are we pursuing our own goal and purpose in life? After praying with my friend God showed us some bible scriptures that helped her realize that she has a purpose!
Now, how about the millions that had never heard about God?...  What are we doing to let them know that there is a God? How are we helping them find out God’s purpose for their lives?
I really believe that this is something we have thought about at least once in our lives. And I pray the Lord will show you a way to approach these people, one at a time.
I know my purpose, and my prayer is that the Lord will help me do as He wants me to, and that is my prayer today for you too. I know the Lord will do great things through you,        even greater than you thought!
